This article will help you provide the general requirements needed for the implementation of Odoo Sakes Module. This list does not contain module specific requirements. Module specif requirements, are requested separately.

 

Odoo Sales Module General Configuration:

  1. Product Catalog
    1. Variants:
      Do you want to set product attributes (e.g. color, size) and to manage variants, there are pros and cons of activating this feature. For more information about Odoo Variants click here.
    2. Variant Grid Entry:
      Do you want to be able to add several variants to the sales order from a grid, this can speed up sales order creation. It can only be useful if variants are enabled.
    3. Deliver Content by Email:
      Do you want to be able to send a an email for a specific product oncce the invoice is validated?
      This is useful if you need to share specific product information or content about a product for example (instructions, rules, links, media, etc.). This feature will enable the ability to create and set the email template from the product detail form in the Sales tab.
    4. Product Configurator:
      Do you want to enable the selection of product attributes and optional products from the sales order
      ?
    5. Product Packaging:
      Do you want to enable the ability to select a package type in sales orders and to force a quantity that is a multiple of the number of unites per package?
  2. Pricing
    1. Discounts:
      Do you want to grant discounts on sales order lines?
      This feature enables manual discounts on sales order lines or display discounts computed from pricelists (only if pricelists feature is enabled).
    2. Pricelists:
      Do you want to be able to set multiple prices per product and automated discounts?
      Odoo has a powerful pricelist feature to support a pricing strategy tailored to your business. You can know more about Odoo sales module pricelists feature here.
    3. Margins:
      Do you want to be able to be able to see the margins on orders?
      The margin is computed as the sum of the product sales prices minus the cost set in their detail form.
    4. Coupons & Promotions:
      Do you want to be able to manage promotion & coupon programs?
      Boost your sales with two kinds of discount programs; promotions and coupon codes. Specific conditions can be set (products, customers, minimum purchase amount, period). Rewards can be discount as a (% or an amount) or free products.
    5. Customer Account:Do you want to enable your customers to signup and login and see their documents? This can be set to invitation only to limit access to selective customers. It is your choice (Free Signup or On Invitation).

  3. Quotations & Orders
    1. Online Signature:
      Do you want to request and online signature to confirm orders?
      Online signatures are like electronic “fingerprints”. By using them on Odoo, you will get automatic orders confirmation. You and your customers will save a lot of time by using this feature compared to a traditional process. More about Odoo sales module online signature can be found here.
    2. Quotation Templates:
      Do you want to be able to create standardized offers with default products?
      By creating custom quotation templates, you will save a lot of time. You will be able to send complete quotations at a fast pace. More about Odoo sales module quotation templates can be found here.
    3. Quotation Builder:
      Do you want to be able to design your quotation templates using building blocks?
      This feature requires that quotation templates are enabled. More about Odoo sales module quotation builder can be found here.
    4. Default Quotation Validity:
      Do you want to be able to set a default quotation validity?
    5. Lock Confirmed Sales:
      Do you want to lock confirmed sales orders once confirmed?
      When this feature is enabled, you will no longer be able to edit any order once it is confirmed.
    6. Online Payment:
      Do you want to be able to request an online payment to a confirmed order?
      In general, online payments are considered as a fast and secure alternative to traditional payment methods. It is generally cheaper, easier and faster than other payment methods. It is particularly useful and efficient for international transactions. With Odoo Sales, you can use online payments to get automatic orders confirmation. Online payments are made instantly, so it’s very convenient and saves lots of time in a basic sales process. More information about Odoo sales module online payments can be found here. Odoo is integrated with some international payment gateways, If you want your Odoo installation to be integrated with a local payment gateway, we can do that for an additional fee.
    7. Customer Addresses:
      Do you want to be able to select specific invoice and delivery addresses?
      With Odoo Sales, you can configure different addresses for delivery and invoicing. For some customers, it will be very practical to define specific billing and shipping addresses. Indeed, not everyone will have the same delivery location as the invoicing location. More information avout Odoo sales module customer addresses can be found here.
    8. Sales Warnings:
      Do you want to be able to set warning messages or block messages on sales orders for products or customers? This can be useful in cases when you want to get warnings in orders for products or customers when you add a note on the product or the vendor. When set it to a warning, it will send you a warning message before sales to remind you of the alert. If you set it to a block warning, the sales person will not be able to complete the transaction. He will receive a message that this product is blocked because we have a dispute with the customer for example.
    9. Pro-Forma Invoice:
      Do you want to be able to send Pro-Forma invoice to your customers?
      This can be useful if you want to send it to your customers to request payment to be made. It is mostly used if your business is exporting.
  4. Shipping
    1. Delivery Methods:
      Are you delivering products to your customers? If you are this function will help compute shipping costs. For example, If the customer delivery address is in Cairo a fixed fee of EGP 10, if the delivery is in Alexandria the fixed fee can change to EGP 50. You can also set rules to change delivery cost.     2. Incoterms:
      Would you like to display incoterms on orders and invoices?
      Incoterms are a set of internationally recognized rules which define the responsibilities of sellers and buyers in the export transaction. More information about infoterms can be found here.
  5. Invoicing
    1. Invoicing Policy:
      Do you want to invoice your customers when an what is ordered or invoice them on what is delivered?
      Different business policies might require different options for invoicing. The default method in Odoo is to invoice what is ordered. This means that customers will be invoiced once the sales order is confirmed. Some businesses might favor to invoice what is delivered, this rule concerns businesses that sell materials, liquids, or food in large quantities and in these cases the quantities might diverge a little bit and therefore it is preferable to invoice the quantity that is actually delivered.     2. Down Payments:
      What would you like to name the product used for down payments?
      If you do not set a name for the product used for down payments, it will be created automatically. When you request your first down payment, a new product called Down payment will be created. This product will be registered as a service product with an invoicing policy of ordered quantities. A down payment is a partial payment made by the buyer when a sales contract is concluded. Sometimes a down payment is required for expensive orders or projects. That way, you can protect yourself and make sure that your customer is reliable.   6. Customers
    1. Import Customers:
      If you have a few customers, you will be able to add them by yourself. If you would like us to import your customers, we can also do that for you. You will have to provide us with an excel sheet containing information about your customers.


      Things that we will need in the excel sheet:
      Customer Individual or company (required)
      Customer Name (required)
      Customer Address
      Customer City (required)
      Customer Country (required)
      Customer Tax ID
      Customer Phone
      Customer Mobile
      Customer Website
      Customer Email

  7. Sales
    1. Sales Teams:
      Would you like to create sales teams?
      You can create sales teams to assign a team to a customer depending on the sales team function. This can be useful if you have a sales team for direct sales and another team for managing the customer account and upsell.
